WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits in Liverpool: Two full days

 

This is a beginner to intermediate level qualification exploring spirits and liqueurs for those working in the industry or spirits enthusiasts.

Two Day course, 9.15am-5.30pm

You’ll study for the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits in Liverpool via One Foot in the Grapes under the guidance of WSET-approved educator Sam Cunliffe.

You’ll learn:

  • The main production factors that determine types of spirits
  • How the principal types of spirits are produced and labelled, and to describe their key characteristics
  • How the principal types of flavoured spirits, liqueurs and aromatised wines are produced and labelled, and to describe their key characteristics.
  • The common equipment used and the principles involved in the service of spirits
  • How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT)

Tasting spirits

You’ll learn how to describe spirits using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT).

There is a minimum of 29 recommended spirits samples for this Level 2 course.

They include Cognacs; whisky/whiskey from around the world; rum; Tequila and Mezcal; vodka; and flavoured spirits and Vermouth.

Study WSET Level 1 & 2 Award in Spirits with One Foot in the Grapes

How long does the course take?

The first day will begin with registration and over two days we’ll go through the course modules with practical sessions.
On each of the two days there will breaks, and a longer break for lunch.
The exam will take place in the final session of the second day.

How much does it cost?

Studying the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits course in two days with One Foot in the Grapes is £360.
It covers the study pack, spirits samples and the examination fee on the day (it doesn’t cover resits).
The study pack will be posted to candidates ahead of the course.

How do you pass?

The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in one hour.
Exam papers will be delivered to the WSET and One Foot will be notified of the results in 3-4 weeks.

Ofqual regulates this qualification.
