
- What is it: Join other students in the online WSET global classroom, to study the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. One Foot in the Grapes only accepts bookings from people who have already gained the Level 2. Other course providers may accept students without Level 2, subject to passing a knowledge test.
- Please note the exam MUST be in person and not online.
- You must attend a day’s tasting workshop in Liverpool. Dates to be discussed at point of booking.
- What will you do: You will log on when you want to, at a pace and a time to suit you. The Level 3 Global course consists of nine weeks of self-study. You’ll have access to the course material for a year.
- How does it work: You’ll be guided through the course by an online tutor. Each of the nine modules (see below) is interactive, so expect to post in forums, watch videos, complete quizzes and reflect on tasks.
- The study time: You’ll be expected to study around 10 hours a week.
- Wines: You should taste a minimum of 21 wines, as outlined within the course modules. You will need to buy these.
- Exam date and place: You will take the exam in-person with One Foot in the Grapes in a Liverpool venue.

– 2025 dates can be agreed. Please ask. - The study fee: This course in the Global Classroom is £700 booked via One Foot in the Grapes. WSET fees rise every August. Resit fees not included.

The exam consists of two units:
Unit 1 is a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper.
Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines.
The exam must be taken in-person.
The nine modules of the Global online WSET Level 3 Award in Wines
Module 1:
– Exploring style, quality and price (Part 1)
– Learn to taste and describe wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting.
– Learn about the principal natural factors in the vineyard and how they influence the style, quality and price of wine.
Module 2:
– Exploring style, quality and price (Part 2)
– Learn about the principal human factors in the vineyard and winery and how they influence the style, quality and price of wine.
Modules 3-6:
The still wines of Europe: Learn about the natural and human factors in the vineyard and winery and how they influence the wines
Modules 7-8:
Exploring the still wines from the rest of the world: Learn about the natural and human factors in the vineyard and winery and how they influence the wines of the USA, Canada, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Module 9:
Sparkling and fortified wines: Learn about the methods of production and the main styles of sparkling wines from the key wine producing countries.
