One Foot in the Grapes will invite you to occasional informal, informative, video calls but they are not compulsory.

The seven modules:

  • What is wine and how is it made?
  • Types and styles of wine
  • Introduction to tasting
  • Grape varieties and wines
  • Storage and service of wines
  • Pairing food and wines
  • Revision

Tasting wine

You’ll learn to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT). To fully enjoy and understand the modules, One Foot in the Grapes advises that you should try at least six wines. You will buy these for the online course and we can offer recommendations to source from retailers. As an option, you can also buy wine sample boxes, each box containing six 2oml bottles of wine. This samples provider has the approval of the WSET.

There is no need to prepare anything before starting your WSET Level 1 Award in Wines course. However you can read the qualification specification which will help you understand what to expect.
